Motorcyclist Killed in Crash on Fairfax County Parkway

Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred around 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 21 in the Reston area.  Corey Tarpley, 37, of 11702 Hoover Lane, Fredericksburg, Virginia was pronounced dead at the scene.

Tarpley was driving a 2000 Honda motorcycle northbound on Fairfax County Parkway near Walnut Branch Road when he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and ran off the roadway. Tarpley was ejected from the motorcycle and struck a metal pole off the roadway.

Crash Reconstruction detectives responded to the scene and believe speed to be a factor in the crash. It is unknown if alcohol was a factor.

To the family of Cory Tarpley,

From The Taylor Family to THe Tarpley Family, we are sorry for your lost. I will miss Cory greatly, watching his wonderful smile and listening to his laugh.

Cory offen spoke about his children and parents. In the short time
I got to know him we enjoyed being together, sharing new things in life, me being a listening ear and trying to get him to eat veggie. lol He was always willing to help anybody in need, working on cars, playing cards and reading my old medical books. ON Sunday, March 21st afternoon my children and family were grilling food, joking and playing bally ball shortly before the fatal accident. May God be with us and hear our prays and give us the strenght we need to get through this.

Yes speed was the factor. And the friend riding with him should fess up to it.Thats why we riders have a bad name. And by the way.Whoever was on the bike infront of him,you could have picked up his jacket that is STILL sitting on the FireHydrant as of this morning. And yes i saw the crash

I drove by 2-3 minutes after it happened. I was praying then for whoever was harmed, and now my prayers go out to the family. And P, I think you should worry less about giving riders a bad name and more about having a little compassion.

I too am sorry for your loss. My boyfriend and I also passed by the scene. It was not a pretty site to see the bike way off to the side from where he was, (I can still see him in my mind). I am very sorry for your loss!! I too prayed for the family and friends! You will continue to be in my prayers! May God Bless you all!

who ever you are, you know nothing about the second rider. About picking up the jucket none of the the riders had on jackets i was there and saw everything. I don’t know what part of the planet you are from but even if there was a jacket it’s called a crime scene no one is to remove anything till the investgator does his/her job. Try to educate your seld “READ” You don’t know how the second rider and his family are feeling. Have some compation. what the family need now is support and prayer. Not ppl like u runing their mouth about things they know nothing.
To traplay family may God be with you

This is what is wrong with our society and this world!!! All of us have done other’s wrong and I should know esp recently, all have made mistakes, all have regrets and all will be judged but not by you or anyone of this world however learning about this and reading the bs you write about, even if true, the fact that you would write it on a headline and story such as this makes you a horrible example of a human. The family and friends are grieving the ones he loved or ones who loved him are hurting no matter if a coat was picked up or achohol involved. Not to mention that anyone who was there or saw him directly after has a heavy heart of sadness to see such a thing happen to another human. Grow the F up and gt some respect!!!!!

My prayers go out to the Tarpley Family, his children and to the friends of this man.
