Motorcyclist Dies in Crash on Little River Turnpike
Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Tuesday, September 7 just before 9 a.m. A Springfield man was westbound on Little River Turnpike just prior to Woodland Road riding his 2007 Kawasaki motorcycle in the left lane when a 2011 Honda CR-V made a left turn into the motorcyclist’s path resulting in a collision.
The rider, Garrick C. Nelson, 23 of 5905 Craig Street, was transported to INOVA Fairfax Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The other driver, a 64-year-old Annandale woman, was also transported to the hospital and treated for non life-threatening injuries.
No charges have been placed; speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the collision. Crash Reconstruction Unit detectives are continuing to investigate.
