MOUNT VERNON DISTRICT STATION

ARMED ROBBERY: 7100 block of Richmond Highway, 2/17/17, around 9 p.m. A 38-year-old man was walking home when three men approached him. One suspect displayed a handgun and demanded cash and the victim’s phone. The suspects ran off toward Richmond Highway and fled in a car. They were described as black, around 16 to 18 years old and wore dark clothing. The victim did not require medical attention.

MASON DISTRICT STATION

ROBBERY/MALICIOUS WOUNDING/ARREST: Bellview Drive/Glen Carlyn Drive, 2/19/17, around 2 a.m. Officers and detectives were in the area investigating a recent string of robberies. They saw a man acting suspicious and consistent with the description of the suspect in the prior crimes. Officers saw him approach two people and display a knife and a broken bottle. The suspect demanded the victims’ wallets and subsequently cut one victim on the arm with the bottle. Officers immediately challenged the suspect and took him into custody. Further investigation revealed the suspect may be responsible for 11 street robberies. Carlos Turcios Canales, 39, of Falls Church was arrested, taken to the Adult Detention Center and charged with two counts of robbery and malicious wounding. The victim was treated for minor injuries.

CONCEALED WEAPON/POSSESSION OF NARCOTICS/ARREST: 4800 block of Beauregard Street, 2/18/17, around midnight. An officer conducted a traffic stop and detected an odor of marijuana. Further investigation revealed the driver was concealing a handgun under his seat and was in possession of narcotics. Ragal Khalil Abdelrasoul, 19, of Falls Church was arrested and taken to the Adult Detention Center where he was charged with concealing a weapon and two counts of possession of narcotics.

WEST SPRINGFIELD DISTRICT STATION

POSSESSION WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE NARCOTICS/ARREST: 6000 block of Burke Commons Road, 2/18/17, around 10:25 p.m. Neighborhood Patrol Units conducted a traffic stop and detected an odor of marijuana. Further investigation revealed the driver and the passenger were both in possession of narcotics. Amir Hodaei (driver) and Ali Sulieman (passenger), both 19, of no fixed address were taken to the Adult Detention Center and charged with possession with intent to distribute narcotics.

BURGLARY: 12200 block of Wye Oaks Commons Circle, between 10 p.m. 2/19/17 and 12:55 p.m. 2/20/17. An investigation determined someone used a garage door opener left inside a car to gain access to the home’s garage. A bicycle was reported missing.

FAIR OAKS DISTRICT STATION

ARMED ROBBERY/ARREST: 12000 Fairfax Towne Center, 2/20/17, around 5:45 a.m. A 49-year-old woman was parking in a garage. As she got out of her car, two men approached her. One displayed a handgun and demanded cash. The victim did not comply and the suspects ran off. Officers quickly caught a 16-year-old boy in a nearby park and identified him as the robbery suspect. He was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center and charged with robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and wearing a mask in public. The other suspect, Kyle Cram, 18, of no fixed address was located nearby and arrested for a probation violation and possession of marijuana. He was taken to the Adult Detention Center.
