Celebrate Women’s History at Fairfax Museum

Learn about women in local history at a special women’s history event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, March 6 at the Fairfax Museum and Visitor Center, 10209 Main Street.

Meet Miss Jennie Dean, a former slave and founder of the Manassas Industrial School for African-American students, at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. through performances by re-enactor Marion Dobbins.

Learn about the art of quilting through hands-on activities and a gallery tours of the exhibition “Stitching Pretty through Hard Times: Quilting and Sewing Arts of the 1930s.” The museum’s permanent exhibit also features Fairfax’s historical women.

Women’s History Day is co-sponsored by Fairfax Museum and Visitor Center and the city’s Commission for Women.
